Life is Short but Very Wide

"Become Like a Child and You Will Be New"-The Lord

A picture tells a thousand stories and you want successful pictures.

When you say “I Want” health, love, happiness, money, success, Lexus ES350, 4,200 sq ft home with 4bds and  4 baths you get pictures; happy, positive pictures.

The great books over the last 100 years like the Master Key System for Abundance, Think and Grow Rich, The Science of Getting Rich, The Secret feature the “Law of Attraction” and how what you think about with feeling, you manifest.

They are built on additional scientific theory by master thinkers such as Plato, Newton, Kepler, Kant, and Einstein to name a few who say that there is a reality bigger than the one you perceive with your senses and left brain.

In Pimm van Kommel’s book “Consciousness Beyond Life” he combines his theories of ever lasting consciousness and Quantum Physics to conclude that the past, present, and future are all here at the same time, just outside of knowing.

When you use your energy to align with the energy that is the source of all existence, you can bring forth, in form, what you are strongly thinking. I have had enough premonitions and intuitions come true to give me a new theory that many of us would hesitate to put into words.

I think the future is here at the same time as the present because in space, which is the consciousness just outside of your senses there is no time. I think a premonition is frequently just seeing what is about to happen to you. You can do it because it is already known.

This might be a lot to wrap your mind around, so it is just as well to go to the suggestions of the several books that have millions of followers who have already wrapped their heads around these ideas and found they work.

Each morning before you get up starting saying “I Want” and list the things you want in your life. They bring in positive pictures. Eliminate the words “I don’t” because they bring in negative pictures.

If you say “I Don’t” want to be poor, sick, broke, unemployed, homeless, single, you can see the pictures they create in your head. The fact that they are preceded by “Don’t” doesn’t clarify the picture in consciousness. The picture is the picture.

Don’t tell your children, “I don’t want to see a messy room”. This creates a picture. Say “I want a clean, neat, organized, room.” Substitute “I don’t want to see dirty dishes” with “I want to see a neat spotless kitchen with everything put away.”

Every morning after visualizing what you want, start saying the same for all those that are close to you, your place of work, your neighborhood, your city, and your nation. “I want to see my friends have abundance, happiness, and fulfillment.”  “I want to see my town prosper, be safe, and attract visitors and business.”

We can bring ourselves up and our entire environment with us. You can say “I Want” as often as you like. It starts making you feel better as soon as you start using it.

Is Your Path Straight or Zig Zagging?

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

We cannot derail the Universe. Very few of us leave lasting affects on mankind. When we are gone, our body turns to mulch.

Those that know and love us will remember us for as long as they live.

But is that all there is?

Why are we here in the first place? Someone was bored and decided they needed a few humans to watch for entertainment?

As it turns out, one of the most important results in your life is what you experience while you are here. Everyone else is pretty engaged in their own lives even if you are a part .

For a hundred years there has been a philosophy of developing abundance started by ,as some say, Charles Haanel in the “The Master Key System”, then followed by “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill,  the “Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D Wattles, and “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrnes,

They each say basically the same thing. You can create what you desire.

In Quantum Physics there are many laws discussed that cannot be covered by classical physics. If you can wrap your mind around the theory that all the knowledge and ever lasting consciousness are around you at all times, you have a good basis for accepting that the Universe is made of energy and it is available to you.

Matter consists of 99.9% space and quantum physicists would say that space is filled with information. The space that is in our cells can communicate with the space in all matter. We have the ability and some would say it is regular practice to use the information surrounding us to guide our lives.

The practitioners of the above philosophies would say that if you create the energy in the form of emotion and feelings that you want to have something, you have initiated “The Law of Attraction”

What you can achieve on earth is creating what you want for yourself. The desire for abundance is only partially money. It is love, community, achievement, health, joy, happiness, and self fulfillment.

By achieving abundance, you become a great gift to everyone that knows you. The Kabbala written starting in 1800 B.C.by the teachings of Abraham says that humans were created to receive and that is their destiny.  The Law Of Attraction says you must be willing to receive all that is available for you.

Negative thinking wastes your opportunity. Let’s say you have a glass jar and you fill it with 20% of something you do not want to drink. For the balance you have the choice of putting in more of the same or something you do want to drink.

The jar is like your mind. The positive will over come the negative. If you concentrate on the positive, it will bring what you want. If you don’t think of what you don’t like, it will become diluted and lose affect.

Your life can be a straight path to what you want.*

What if Daytime Was the Dream and Nite the Reality?

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

Several credible sources say the Universal knowledge is far greater than what we access with our senses or know with our brain.

From ancient times scholars such as Plato have said that we are the shadow of the larger reality. Indian culture, Kabbala, natives of many lands, and ancient civilizations have believed that we are but a small player in a much bigger game.

Quantum physics has helped explain many of the inconsistencies unexplainable in classical physics. One theory is that the space that exists in matter is filled with information and consciousness that we continuously tap into and call progress.

In that matter has 99.9% space, this leaves a lot of room for knowledge. We are so tied to our senses that we prefer to ignore information that seems unexplainable. It is clear that our cells communicate with each other faster than our senses could perceive.

It is clear that revelations create in a second what it may take years to explain. Einstein gives revelation the cause of the Theory of Relativity. Many composers, artists, writers,  and scientists have said their work appears in their minds and then they give it form.

Waves carry the information our computers, radios, and brains translate into terms we can understand. They travel at the speed of light. Just as everything on the globe is interconnected in one holographic conglomeration of information, so could we be to our past and future.

A few days ago, I was practicing some dream skills where I went into pictures of family or scenes I remembered well and relived the events. It so happens I went into three exercises involving my older daughter who now lives in London. Within 15 minutes of completing them she called me. She rarely calls and especially at night, her time.

Since I read “Dreamgates” by Robert Moss, I have been remembering and analyzing my dreams to see if they have any particular meaning. Some have familiar characters and reproduce what I might be experiencing in my daily existence. In a few, I have been in a room with people I didn’t know and who were having conversations that had no relevance to me that I could ascertain.

In that many believe our consciousness is ever lasting and enters and leaves our body at birth and death and that outside our reality, there is no such thing as time, we might experience the past present and future at the same time.

If our daily experience is the dream in that it is the smaller part of the larger reality, it might afford us some opportunities. It would always be great to create our dreams rather than be subject to them. If the daily experience which we call consciousness is not the larger reality, but one in which we have better control, why not make it suit us?

What could we create in our daily existence that which would make us happier? Love is good. We could do what we loved most as children and create things that express ourselves. We could engage in activities that make us feel better and sharpen our mental capabilities. We could find out what our particular and clearly temporary body/brain is capable of experiencing, achieving, or contributing.

Our day time existence or consciousness is our artist pallet and while it maybe the shortest lived part of our existence, why not make the most of it while we have the time? Create a good experience for yourself  today, tomorrow.

Happiness and Revolution at $150 Oil

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

The meltdown accelerated several games already in play.

The disparity of income and privileges between the developing countries and developed countries has obviously been playing on their minds. The revolutions we are seeing however are in the countries with caste systems more obvious than India.

With the dollar as the standard currency being debased, food shortages exacerbated by global warming floods, fires, and droughts, and uneven distribution of wealth, someone is going to crack.

Marx had it kind of right, but not totally. The capitalist system rules democracy resulting in the voters getting the short end of the stick. The mineral rich countries by the same token are not distributing the income evenly. If the minerals come from the land, why do the kings get to keep all the rewards.

Not educating the masses is one way to prevent revolution, but that wasn’t the case in Tunisia. A book I read long ago said it is not the have not’s that revolt it is the educated have a little that revolt. The Tunisians are evidently educating all their brothers.

How is this going to play in the U.S. and how is it going to affect you?

It brings to the front issues I didn’t think we would see for a few years. I had thought that revolt to the dollars decreasing purchasing power would cause other countries to stop funding our debt which would then require the crack down we see in Greece and Ireland.

Employment won’t increase at $150 oil. That means the bet the U.S is making that inflating the currency to create a recovery to collect more tax revenues hits a bump. It means that deflation and inflation could run amuck at the same time.

The website I created called Innovative Downsizing becomes more of a necessity for most people. The significance is we have to anticipate higher costs to purchase what we need at the same time we see stress to our income.

People who can anticipate the problems and the needs of new stress are going to have products or services in greater demand. One definition I read of wealth is it is creating products or services that can be exchanged. If you think about it, it means that people make choices as to what they need to purchase or want to purchase.

We rarely touch significant money. It all happens on exchange. It goes into our bank accounts and then out with checks or credit cards. It goes in because we create a product or service someone wants. It goes out because we purchase a product or service we want.

The concepts of abundance have to take on new relevance. For those highly evolved in creating wealth, it has never been about creating cash in hand. It has been about creating products and services that are contributions to make people more useful and more happy.

Abundance is not just paper money. It is feeling good about ourselves, loving others, helping those close to us, contributing to the community, finding avenues of self expression, understanding our purpose for being here.

We can live on a storm tossed sea with little to eat and still find abundance in a calm we create.

The “I’m All In” Club

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

When I wrote yesterday about “Shame” it is was a very freeing experience for me. I was heartened by some of the feed back. It came in worry for me, questions as to whether I was actually happy and so forth.

I didn’t get criticism or judgment although I know it was out there. When you express yourself with your art, writing, innovations, singing , acting, cooking, buildings, politics, or spirituality you can expect criticism and judgment.

When my younger daughter was in third grade she opened a school play singing a song  acapella. I was mortified. I didn’t know she could sing and it would be the last thing in the world you could get me to do. I was thinking if she screws up we’re all going to hear about it. Luckily she was amazing, but that is living in fear;

Afraid to really throw it out there for fear of what others will think or how they will judge. Granted there are some things that should remain private, like my singing.

Mean criticisms and judgments prevent personal progress towards transformation. Worry about them, holds everyone back. Think of them as our opponents to progress.

The first thing to avoid in this travel is judgment, criticism, or reaction to others that causes jealousy, anger, disappointment, fear, or embarrassment. In other words, our negativity cuts us off from the Source. Only positive thinking keeps us attached.

In “Tapping the Source” whose inspiration comes from the work of Charles Haanel, author of “The Master Key System” our ability to tap Universal knowledge and energy is ever present. Some of the greatest contributors to man kind attributed their creations, such as the “Theory of Relativity” to revelations or epiphanies.

Designers are said to be positive people. Their task is to solve the impossible You have to have great faith in your system, methodology and thinking to have the arrogance to take pay for something that is deemed impossible.

Our right brain activity is our source of creativity, intuition, and revelation. This is the sphere in which we want to live and explore. .

The first positive step is ridding ourselves of feelings we are unworthy. We need to air out our toxic secrets. We need to give light to our darkness. Secondly, we have to work with our negative reactions to ideas, religions, beliefs, statements, behavior, and offenses by others..

Thirdly, we have to institute positive pro active behavior that expresses who we are. We  have to eat healthy. We have to give our body exercise. We have to find activities that express our talents.  We want to live with passion. We want to love ourselves and feel belonging.  We need to remain attached to positive Universal Energy.

“When your thought becomes uplifted, progressive, constructive, courageous , noble kind, or in any other way desirable, you set in motion vibrations which bring about mental, oral, and physical health.”  Haanel

The “I’m All in Club” is positive and pro active. Members manage their fear but are committed to acts of bravery. Self love and acceptance of others is primary. We are never alone in the Universe.

From Tapping the Source I quote again:

“Our permanent well being will be best conserved by a conscious cooperation with the continuous forward movement of the Great Whole.”

Can We Live Fulfilled with Who We Are?

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

I do research everyday to find material that stimulates my thinking in areas I present to you. I cover a pretty wide swath from economics to self improvement. I often read two books a day.

My approaches to self improvement are looking for peak performance and peak happiness. Yesterday I read two books that approach peak performance and they had very different perspectives.

One of the books had a more profound affect on me because it covered a topic that is outside and yet very inside what I discuss. “The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brene Brown, Ph.D. was a surprise.  Brene’s specialty and doctorate are about shame. This is a term I have never heard and so I think it is pretty original with her.

She mentioned half way through the book that she is an alcoholic 15 years sober and it made me connect with her struggles and personality.

I feel I have a pretty idyllic life under my circumstances. The real estate industry collapsed on me and left me without a real skill that could be applied in the rapidly escalating unemployment paradigm.

Luckily I have earned enough money in my life that I could tap into some early Social Security benefits and get an income I could live on. After developing a brand new field for myself in Search Engine Optimization, I started improving web sites for online businesses.

It was a lot of work and I decided that if I lived frugally I could do what I really wanted and not have to generate more income. So I have moved to the beach and have really enjoyed how I spend my personal time. I write, exercise, surf, research, eat healthy, and spend a lot of time next to the ocean.

I never thought about the areas in which I might have shame. I never expected when I was young and buying Ferraris,  that I might be depending on Social Security for my income when I was older. I live in a great spot above the beach in a very cozy little apartment, but I have to explain how little it is to others. I don’t have or need a car because I don’t have a job and my community is totally self contained. Twice a month I hop on a bus to visit Wal-Mart and I travel on the train two blocks from my residence to visit other cities.

As a senior, I can ride the bus for $.75 and go anywhere in San Diego. The car I had was costing over $500 a month with loan, insurance, license, and maintenance. I have downsized into a very self sustaining life style that allows me to do what I really enjoy.

Yet on the other hand, I would feel very uncomfortable laying it all out for a stranger because it doesn’t match the “rich” life I used to live. The fact is, the previous happiness was based on acquisitions and spending. Now I am engaged in self fulfillment and exploration of who I am.

Brene makes a point that authenticity and being real is more important to happiness than pretending. She defines Authenticity as “the daily practice of letting go who we are supposed to be and embracing who we are”.

The heart of compassion is accepting who we are and then accepting others. We should not look up in envy or down in condescension at others because we are all very connected. As long as we live who we are and without comparison, we can feel very fulfilled.

Numbing is a word that we may not think about, but live everyday. To escape all the frustration and pain of every day existence, people tend to gift themselves compensation in various forms. It might be alcohol, drugs, shopping, gambling, sex, food, TV, and even anger.

As an alcoholic Brene used to say she drank to “take the edge off’. This is a term that alcoholics would not give much credence, but it expresses something we all do. We feel the adrenaline build up or the anxiety, or worry or frustration and we need to take the edge off.

I take very pro active steps to keep the edge off. I believe in healthy eating and fitness to feel the best I can. I don’t do it as an ideal, I practice it daily as a religion. I believe in lots of rest in between periods of intense effort or concentration. This keeps me working at my peak and prevents boredom from burn out in any one session.

I believe in recreation and relaxation to feel stimulated and refreshed. By the end of the day I rarely need to take as much edge off and each week I feel little need to blow out to compensate for the built up tension.

Accepting who we are, accepting how we live, accepting what we want out of life, and pro actively pursuing our passions can create a more purposeful life. We may have to face down the demons and put counter demon pro activity into play.

Letting the shame out is letting a light into the darkness. The more shame we live with, the more edge we might have to take off.

We Have Become Hard Wired for Fast Food

The Biggest Problem with Losing Weight?

People don’t want to. Not really. It requires sacrifice and extra weight is usually the result of appeasing the brain for suffering. Therefore, food is the savior from other sacrifices.

Suffering needs a different savior. Food has to become a goal independent of the mind’s need for soothing. Food has to become a sacred area. Eating has to be protected from wrongful invasions of our devious minds.

We have to say no to the mind when it says a nice treat would sure make it feel good or just eating a little more would really be nice.

But the truth is, once you start eating healthy and can break that barrier, the mind recognizes how great the body feels eating the right foods and eliminating the wrong ones.

My younger daughter has recently begun the onslaught and now experiences that she feels worse when she eats something unhealthy. Her mind now rejects suggestions of eating something unhealthy.

The five year progression I experienced in going from good to better finally led me to eating raw. My only meat was canned tuna. I didn’t cook. My body only wanted the purest of natural foods. Weight was dropping off so fast it actually worried me.

After a 5 month spurt of raw, I have now started cooking chicken again. The monotony of such a narrow diet got to me and I was not one for creating lots of recipes. But having lost 40 pounds and very happy now at 5 pounds from my high school weight, I stay steady with a very clean diet.

My mind still wants treats and I give it some. I have never starved. You can eat plenty of natural food and get sugars and fat. Apples, bananas, and other fruits give plenty of sugar. Raisins mixed with walnuts and chocolate chips (yes, see a little cheat) are an amazing snack.

I just discovered that the raisin mix with a tablespoon of peanut butter is just as good as any dessert I ever experienced and not harmful.

I read in Science Daily that magnesium is terrific for enhancing memory and cognitive skills and can be created with greens, cashews, almonds, and broccoli. Nothing painful there and who doesn’t want a better brain?

Greens like Kale, cabbage, parsley, spinach, and onions blow up cancer prone cells. I see a good salad there which I have frequently and who wouldn’t like to lock out cancer? I then use a mixture of olive oil, apple cider vinegar and seasonings for the dressing.

Olive oil is great for the brain (which is 2/3 fat of omega 3) and helps the body release bad fat. Apple cider vinegar is positive in many ways and you can even have a tablespoon in water.

Hydrating always has a positive affect. It helps you feel better, have more energy, and since it increases blood volume you have more stamina for exercise and thinking. An Olympic trainer has his athletes drink a glass of water every 15 minutes for four hours before an event. That’s a little much for me, but you get the idea.

Once you start realizing how many great things you can do for yourself, it actually becomes fun. It’s just as good as when you put some savings in the bank. You know you are building towards a better future.  Your mind can get behind that.

My mind likes people continuously telling me, wow you look leaner or you have lost a lot of weight. I like loose fitting clothes. I like my body not spending time digesting or never having an upset stomach. I am never saying, wow I ate too much. I am never sick. The leaner I get the better I can exercise. It just keeps getting better.

What has a big Mac done for you lately?

**

Read “The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth” by Jonny Bowden. This is the bible that got me started picking six to eight things to add to my diet. I started with kale, cabbage, spinach, and broccoli.  When you add things, you start subtracting other things. Cacao (chocolate) is the most anti oxidant rich food you can find.

You Can’t Run From Govt. Policies, But You Can Prepare

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

Will we take to the streets? Most likely.

The first problem is that our government is not run by those who elect it.

Politicians are caught between a rock and a hard place because business runs government and the people elect it. Politicians have a difficult time staying in office and also doing the bidding by those pulling the strings.

It seems business controls the legislation, the regulations, the jurisprudence, and the policies.

The fact that the people defeated the tobacco industry was almost an unnatural event.

The financial industry deregulated the regulators in the 90’s. The health care bill seems to serve the pharmaceutical industry as much as the populace. A few large entities control the food we eat and give the high social and environmental costs back to the public domain.

We get led in the direction we too easily follow.

Food, Inc, a movie about the food industry available on Netflix.com is a great start on how fast food created a factory oriented food industry to supply the demand. When McDonalds becomes the largest customer for meat and potatoes, they have a lot of control.

When 30% of our land is used for growing corn and that crop is subsidized by the government (taxpayers) it puts into motion an uncontrollable force. The fact that according to Food, Inc one out of three people born after 2000 will have diabetes is a social cost and result of that force.

When health care hijacks the national debate and budget instead of health creation, it demonstrates the forces at work are controlling the focus of the debate and the government is curing the wrong problems.

When 1% of the people are rich and business is flush with capital while people lose their homes, can’t find jobs, can’t afford medical care, and have lost their retirement savings, the system looks stacked.

It says that even as voters we have lost sight of reasonable, responsible objectives.

We took money that was too easy. We eat cheap thinking that there are no long term costs to be paid. We demand services to our communities or we won’t keep our politicians in office.

To be independent and free, people need to be independent and self reliant. We need to take care of our own health. We need to produce and spend according to our incomes. We need to demand parity, accountability, and transparency in legislation, regulations, taxes, jurisprudence costs, and policies.

We need to finance elections and eliminate lobbyists.

We are headed by a government that has printed too much money in order to remain in power and given too much power to those who have money.

The inequities are too large and the solutions not sufficient.  We have to be responsible and demand responsibility. Other wise we also, in frustration, will head to the streets. We will get shot by rubber bullets we paid for.

How to Recharge on a Sunday

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

Three possible goals for Recharge Day

  • Recharging for most is giving the left brain hemisphere a rest.
  • Feeling happy comes from increasing dopamine to the brain.
  • Right brain activity is usually connected with creativity and intuition.

1>Giving the left brain a rest by suspending it:

Monotonous activities like running, biking, swimming, hobbies, house keeping, car washing, gardening, and meditation suspend left brain thinking. It is often during these activities that we get great ideas because our creativity mulls new order and relationships with the facts we have spent so much time gathering.

2>Creating Dopamine for Feeling Happy:

A few activities can give us the feel good chemical. Flow or being in the zone is where we engage in an activity that is challenging but within our capabilities. We eliminate distractions in the process and just enjoy. People certainly get lost in hobbies and even avocations such as crafts, art, writing, music, design, building, and sports.

Using your talents to create for the greater good is a double pop of dopamine. So if you were to write, compose, paint, instruct, counsel, coach, assist, for the betterment of others you could get to a new high for as much time as you engaged.

Love increases dopamine. So the time you spend with loved ones expressing or acting out your feelings would make you feel very happy.

3> Creativity and Intuition

These are two right brain activities that suspend left brain thinking. In being innovative the first step is clearly stating the problem. The creative step is developing all the possible alternatives regardless of whether they be logical, reasonable, or practical.

So even on a day off, problem solving where you create alternatives can be creative and even get one into flow.

Intuition is giving credence to little messages from our universal consciousness. These ideas often come in a flash such as a revelation or epiphany. Because there is unlimited knowledge in the universe (quantum physics), and energy moves at the speed of light, we often get volumes of information in a micro second.

Learning to trust these messages is important to giving yourself access to a much bigger source of information than you can create with your senses. Einstein said the theory of relativity came in a revelation. Mozart said his entire symphonies were created in his head before he wrote a note. The chart of elements we studied in high school appeared in perfect order in the scientists mind and then he wrote them down.

So the time you spend musing and listening to what maybe be your heart on how to approach or solve problems could access your intuition. Deciding the best path for your next week, month, year, or life could be available through intuition.

Many scientists and philosophers believe the consciousness is universal and never ending. They believe your body accesses it while alive, but once you die, your spirit returns to a better place. This is not just religious thinking. In near death experiences, where people were clinically dead during cardiac arrest, they experienced leaving their bodies and visiting a much happier place.

So if you have nothing else to do, consider why you are here and how you can make the most of the human experience while you have the chance.

Billionaires Give Money. We Also Have a Gift.

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

It is heart warming that those who have, feel the will to give.

In one of the latest stories, Azim Premji of India reputedly worth $18 billion, is giving $2 billion to educate elementary children in his country. Strangely only 64% of children in India are literate opposed to 94% in China. Vikas Bajaj of the NYTimes.

He follows other billionaires who of late have found it in their hearts to make contributions. They have been blessed and they feel the need to bring up the less fortunate.

Altruism has been encouraged by all spiritual and religious leaders for thousands of years. It is even said  there is a larger consciousness that is part of the universe we tap through giving. Plato talked of a reality larger than what we sense and the Kabbala said the universe was formed by a Creator so that he could endow to vessels meant to Receive.

After we have received our fill we start to emulate the Creator with the will to Endow. Man however was created to receive and finds it difficult to endow with 100% altruism. As good as his intentions, there is usually still an agenda or a reward.

As I digress slightly, those who have experienced near death experiences speak of traveling to a place of consciousness where there was warm light and unconditional love. Some of these people who were revived were depressed that they came back. They often spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate that unconditional love.

And for my final point, I recently sent an email to my 25 year old daughter who moved to London.  I told her I could not love anyone more and I do not get to talk to her or see her as much as I would like. If something happened to me, I would want her always to know.

There is one thing everyone on the planet can give; Unconditional Love. It feels like it’s a 100% gift, but it does have a big pay back. Love makes the giver and receiver’s brain produce dopamine, which is our happy chemical. Dopamine makes us feel happy, positive, optimistic, and confident. It also supports creativity and productivity. It gives us confidence to keep striving for our goals.

Love and happiness is our purpose.

I have read about people going through life’s trials say it only takes one person who believes in you to keep you going. I have had the same experience myself. My daughter has often needed that same hand of faith. Love is free and we can all give it.

Whereas there are a limited number of billionaires to prop up the world, there are 6.3 billion people who could produce wonders if they were all working at their peak performance level and feeling the encouragement of those that loved them.

If we were giving as well as receiving, we might have less greed and more caring. With half the planet starving and a need for more food and less war, we certainly have a big agenda. There will never be enough money to fix all the problems. We have to start by building each individual into self reliant, responsible, and capable beings.

We need to give everyone the spirit to contribute to the whole.

There might be a universal coalition of bootstrapping where everyone was pulling them selves up on everyone else. Paying it forward would be an every day phenomena.

We often wait too late to tell someone how we feel thinking they already know. But when we tell someone, even in writing, it releases it into the universal consciousness. We don’t all have billions, but we have something even more valuable to give.

If You Had 10 Peaceful Moments Left?

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

Suppose you had ten peaceful moments where you would pass with no pain and there were no telephones.

You would think first of the people you love most.

You might think of the things you left undone and unsaid.

You might drift into a review of your life.

Did you fully use your talents to discover who you were?

Did you have enough sunsets and beautiful moments?

Did you live each day as though that would have been a good day to go?

Were you kind and encouraging to people around you?

Would people who know you say that was a good person?

Were you responsible and gave as much as you got?

Did you spend too much time worrying about making a living and not enough about the meaning of living?

Were you accepting and living without judgment?

Those who have near death experiences during cardiac arrest say there is no pain and you go to a place of warm light, unconditional love, beautiful music, sometimes meet with people in your past and often do a life review.

When they are revived they no longer worry about dying because they know they are going to a better place.

So the question is did you make enough of this place?

Did you fully explore who you are?

Did you fully explore the human experience?

Read   “Beyond Consciousness” by Pim van Lommel, M.D.

People who have had near death experiences (NDE) in Cardiac Arrest report that they went to a much better place and were no longer afraid of death. As a cardiologist the NDE and Quantum Physics led Pim and other scientists to believe the consciousness is part of a much bigger reality than what we can sense. Plato, Eingstein, the Kabbala, Newton and other sources say the Universe holds energy, information and truth many of us access through intuition.

Riots vs Lobbyists and the Legal System

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

They might also be called demonstrations or peaceful demonstrations.

Government is very inefficient if you are not rich. The rich hire lobbyists who can effectively affect or gut legislation. The legislative process starts out by the initiation of good bills that soon get gutted and compromised by special interests.

Democracy is one of the most inefficient business organizations ever created. Can you imagine running a business by allowing each department to send a voting paid representative to a Monday morning meeting where the company’s strategy was going to be created?

Democracies and dictatorships are finding everything comes to a boil when constituents are frustrated that their right to vote or not vote is not creating parity.

Big business has the time to anticipate future legislation or regulations to get their ducks (lobbyists) in order to make the appropriate campaign contributions.

When the economy run by special interests has created mass suffering, people don’t have the luxury of lobbyists, lawyers, or legislative influence to make things right. As soon as food prices start to escalate or governments need to cut back to stay afloat, the desperate masses don’t have time for legislation.

There is a demonstration in Madison, Wisconsin over a proposed 7% cut back on healthcare and pension payments by the Governor Scott Jackson. Legislators whose homes were targeted had to leave town

“Kim Hoffman, a middle school music teacher, said she and her husband, also a teacher, would lose $1,200 a month under the plan — too deep a cut to manage.” NYTimes

“Few Americans have heard of Mr. Sharp. But for decades, his practical writings on nonviolent revolution — most notably “From Dictatorship to Democracy,” a 93-page guide to toppling autocrats, available for download in 24 languages — have inspired dissidents around the world, including in Burma, Bosnia, Estonia and Zimbabwe, and now Tunisia and Egypt.”  NYTimes

The Muslim Brotherhood published his book on their site. He gives the key points on bringing down dictatorships through peaceful revolution. He credited Egyptian demonstrators on their lack of fear. “When demonstrators are not afraid of the dictators, the dictators are in trouble,” he says.

The movie “Network” had the memorable line, “I’m fed up and I’m not going to take it anymore.”  People are unhappy in developed countries that their government didn’t protect them against their own profligate spending. It is pretty clear that since the 90’s the banking system has been corrupting the regulatory system.

Now the institutions who have felt secure behind the legal system are facing new threats. The frustrated masses are short cutting all legal avenues and taking their views to the streets. This process is a pretty good short cut on elections as well.

The Test of the Human Spirit

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

There is a lot of negative news and it is hard to find the good stuff.

Never in recent times have we worried more.

There is unrest in the Middle East, food shortages, lingering unemployment, higher energy costs, government debt issues, and evidence of global warming.

The human spirit is the best weapon to carry us through this melee.

Hidden in the headlines these days because it has been such a constant is the march of technology. In the background, because it is not interesting is the progress of bioengineering to produce more dependable grains. The investment in alternative energy is growing on all quarters. Computers can now understand language and may soon improve life faster than humans are capable.

Energy is the source of all life. Energy is the perpetual engine and never in short supply. We tap into energy not using drill bits and blasting caps, but by using creativity and innovation.

Humans have to go through the process like a refinery to create their connection to this energy. At the top of the hierarchy is positive thinking, optimism, and happiness. In “The Happiness Advantage”  Shawn Achor shows we are much more productive when we start happy.

Our brain chemicals produce dopamine when mental thoughts are positive. Dopamine allows us to focus and operate at peak performance. Working in the flow or the zone has been agreed by all levels of psychology and neurology to be our happiest and most productive state.

Energy powers the cells and powers the galaxy. How do we start the charge in our own bodies? We eat healthy and we get fit. We improve our skills and we improve our lives.  I just picked up a book on surfing and this Olympic trainer says in all sports we must improve the total body performance to improve in any sport.

To enjoy lives we must improve all areas. Regardless of what is happening in the world, we are only here for a few years. We can’t say at the end it would have been better if there would have been better conditions. We can create our own.

We can’t just focus on what is happening around us, we must focus on what is happening in us. We need physical fitness. We need to grow our competencies. We need to grow our community. We need to increase our connection to life whether it be through nature, altruism, or contribution.

We need to think of our personal and the greater good.

Things may get worse before they get better, but it is better to be on the accelerator than the brake.

The Ultimate Purpose of Fitness and Food

Posted by: Mark Kaplan | Comments Comments Off

Globally, fitness has different standards of success.

I have two tests for a balanced food and fitness program:

  • Immunity
  • Vitality

I haven’t been sick for ten years. I have the energy to complete my daily goals.

Developing and developed countries lack food energy and fitness.

Half the world suffers from the need for more food energy. The other half suffers from a variation of the same need. In the former case, there is not enough food or variety. In the latter case there is too much food of a useless variety.

In impoverished countries, women have to, farm, gather fuel for fires, cook, and take care of the children. Under nourishment means they don’t have sufficient energy to complete their tasks and suffer from sickness and disease.

In developed countries, people have productivity goals and generally have daily schedules to be fulfilled. Anxiety and over whelm create the need to eat on the run and then eat for comfort. People do not live on natural foods; they live on man made foods. Their brains think they are starving and urge them to eat more. The results are under nourishment, obesity, sickness, and disease.

An over weight body is then exercise challenged. It takes an extraordinary amount of exercise to reduce pounds and an over weight person cannot achieve that end.

Studies of the most vital civilizations show that people who live the longest disease free eat healthy foods, labor hard, live to be over 100 and are having sex in their 80’s.

Living in balance for most people would mean they had the energy to attack their goals. It is clear coffee, sugar, and cigarettes are the foundations of many an energy program. Energy is produced from eating high vibration foods and not consuming sludge.

Energy is produced by creating enough exercise to support metabolism, oxygenation, and brain waves. Laboring all day is one way to get enough exercise, but most need to fit in a half hour to hour a day with more design.

I surf an hour to two hours a day. My first defense is a high protein recovery drink. Secondly, I need enough natural carbohydrates like fruit and vegetables. Thirdly, I need some protein which I get through beans and chicken and my protein drink. Fourthly, I need healthy fat which I get from olive oil and avocados. I get my grains from oat meal and brown rice. I get fiber from the fruit and vegetables. I avoid a lot of sugar, fried foods, red meat, unhealthy fats, and too much flour.

Eating the right foods creates lean automatically without exercise. Adding exercise creates energy, self esteem, mind control, and immunity. For those who have a choice, why would you not optimize for peak performance?
